Communism is a theorical and practical concept that promotes establishment of a classless, stateless society based on common ownership of the means of production.

“The Communists... are on the one hand, practically, the most advanced and resolute section of the working-class parties of every country, that section which pushes forward all others; on the other hand, theoretically, they have over the great mass of the proletariat the advantage of clearly understanding the lines of march, the conditions, and the ultimate general results of the proletarian movement. The immediate aim of the Communists is the same as that of all other proletarian parties: formation of the proletariat into a class, overthrow of the bourgeois State, conquest of political power by the proletariat.” - Karl Marx, Communist Manifesto, 1848

The first of communism was to arise in Russia in 1917 when Vladimir Lenin lead the October Revolution against the Czarist government. The revolution was successful and the idealism would remain running until the USSR's collapse on December 12, 1991. During this time Soviet Russia had fought two revolutions, one civil war, played a major role in World War 2, and had a genocide on its own people, overall causing the deaths of tens of millions of people.

The following video gives a brief and simple history of where communism has been adopted and the causes it had over the past 160 years.
