Gross National Happiness is used to determine a countries mental well being opposed to Gross Domestic Product (GNP) which measures a countres output in products.

GNH is measured by...
  • Political Wellness, represented by the over all wellness of local democracy, foreign conflict, and individual freedom.
  • Workplace Wellness, represented by wokplace complaints and lawsuits, jobless claims, and jobless claims.
  • Economic Wellness, represented by income distribution, and consumer debt.
  • Social Wellness, represented by family and public lawsuits, crime rates, divorce rates, discrimination, domestic conflicts, and safety.
  • Mental Wellness, represented by the fluctuaction in phsycotherapy patients, and useage of antidepressants.
  • Environmental Wellness, represented by pollution, traffic, and noise.

GNH is used in a few small Asian countries, such as Bhutan where the term first origionated. It was based on Buddhist values.
