Hybridization is the process of combining elements of two or more different things to create something new. For example, the result of hybridization is shown in the elements of the American culture; in the show Sesame Street. It has become a global enterprise. It was being broadcasted throughout 120 countries. Some shows are dubbed into local languages according to the area broadcasted. Also, other times new shows are co-produced by local media companies. This is the result of hybridization; combining elements of American culture with those of the country where the show is being aired.

Hybridization is the combining of cultures and or ideas to create a new culture or better product. One cultural example of hybridization is the Metis. The Metis are aboriginals who are a mix of Europeans and other First Nation descent. The Metis, being a mix of cultures, took aspects from each heritage to create their own culture.

Mixing many different elements of two or more different cultures is a basic description of hybridization. To go more in depth, hybridization can also create new cultural products, helping to create new ways for people to connect with each other. Large, international corporations will change their products depending on the country they are trying to sell to. An international hotel such as The Hilton will change the accommodations, food, and recreational equipment, (spa or pool) according to the country and the culture the specific hotel is located in. The hotel will still keep some elements of the original American culture they are coming from.

The low bed and smaller, more compact accomodations are all part of Japanese Culture, but the wide-screen TV and computer desk are elements of American culture.

Another example of hybridization, although not of cultures, is they hybrid car. It combines two ideas of fuel: water and gasoline.
