The term Third World means many things to different people. A basic take on the subject is that it is an inadequate term to describe countries that go through financial, social and physical tribulations. Many different terms that have been attempted since then. These are developed vs. developing countries as well as Global North vs. Global South. However, none of these words satisfy the requirements. They either still imply ranking of some kind, or are geographically inaccurate.
According to some the gap between these countries and the so called First World is getting deeper and deeper. Others prefer to see a silver lining in the affairs of the Third World. These countries have very diverse cultures, heritage and histories of their own. Similar to other countries, disparity is a prime factor that affects the lives of the people living in the Third World. The majority of the countries have poor economic performance and political instability. At the present moment, no terminology has been thought of that properly suited the state in which these countries survive, both economically, physically and socially.
The media's perseption of a third world country
Throughout the world, the media has given these countries an unfair amount of negative coverage which has resulted in this poor connotation that these places now have.
All over New York City, mice have been breeding, and increasing the population. Yet, there are few places decent enough to live for the average mouse. Some mice have the ability to find a nice cozy garage to sleep in, with plenty of food and amenities. But other mice are not so fortunate. You could say, that they live in a completely different world then the mice in the garage. These mice have next to no food and the best place they can find to live in is a sewer pipe. There are so many of these mice, that the sewer pipes end up getting so over populated that hundreds of mice every day start to die. These mice have to work very hard, and scrounge the best that they can to try and get a crumb of bread per say. These mice live in a world where trying to survive everyday is a life or death situation.
