Universalization

Exploring Globalization Defines Universalization: as the spread of culture, trends, customs, and practices around the world.
Similar to the sweeping practice of globalization, universalization is connecting the world through the social aspects of culture. Universalization has been prominent in our society from the time that Christopher Columbus landed in America and brought Christianity and European culture to the North American First Nations people. Many wars have been fought throughout history over forced religion conversions and the like. Maybe one day our world will be uni-cultural through the changes in universalization. However we both believe that would be quite boring.

Dictionary.com defines Universalization as generalizing. A better definition of this is: the spread of cultures and ideas across the globe creating a single culture.

Children of the Clones:
How children will follow in their parents' corporate footsteps. This example also fits Universalization perfectly because the example shows that the parents have spread their practices to their children.

A popular Swedish artist who has been recognized universally. This is another great example of universalization because this shows that this artisits work has been spread around the world. Thus this example fits the definiton of Universalization perfectly because this particular artist's work has been spread all around the world.

Universalization has made soccer the biggest sport in the whole world. The definiton of Universalization is: the spread of culture, trends, customs and practices all around the world, therefore soccer is a great example to fit universalization. Soccer used to be mainly popular in Europe but through universalization it has now been spread to become a sport loved all around the world.

Another example of universalization is:

pluralistic society (map on left)
vs. universalized society (map on right)

An analogy to Universalization is:
If you look at the countries on a normal map, think of them as different cultures. Todays global positioning of the continents would be the pluralistic society, the Pangea model would be a universalized society. A society where all those cultures are combined into one singular culture- the universal society.
